W Before & After

What should you actually look for in an aesthetic result?

Before and after photographs can be helpful when you’re researching aesthetic treatment.

But it’s easy to look at a photograph and focus only on the most obvious change.

At Aesthetic Boutique, we believe there’s more to a good result than simply seeing a difference.

The question isn’t:

“How much has changed?”

It’s:

“Has the right thing changed?”

Look for Balance

A good aesthetic result should work with the person’s existing features.

When looking at before and after photographs, consider whether the treatment has maintained balance between different areas of the face.

This is particularly important with treatments such as dermal filler and facial harmonisation.

The aim isn’t necessarily to create a dramatic transformation.

Sometimes a subtle adjustment can make the face appear more balanced without being immediately obvious.

Look for Natural Expression

With treatments such as anti-wrinkle treatment, movement and expression are important.

A result shouldn’t necessarily mean eliminating every line or completely restricting facial movement.

The appropriate level of treatment depends on the individual and their desired outcome.

When comparing photographs, look beyond whether lines have disappeared.

Ask whether the person still looks like themselves.

Look at Skin Quality

For treatments such as skin boosters, Profhilo®️ and polynucleotides, the most meaningful changes may be less dramatic.

Look for improvements such as:

* Hydration

* Radiance

* Skin texture

* Smoothness

* Firmness

* Overall freshness

These treatments aren’t necessarily designed to change the shape of the face.

The improvement may simply be that the skin looks healthier and more revitalised.

Don’t Compare Yourself Directly

Before and after photographs can demonstrate what a treatment may achieve.

They cannot predict exactly what you will look like.

Every person has different:

* Facial anatomy

* Skin quality

* Muscle activity

* Age-related changes

* Existing volume

* Treatment history

* Response to treatment

Even two people receiving the same treatment can have very different results.

Photography Matters

Before and after photographs can also be affected by factors that have nothing to do with treatment.

Lighting.

Camera angle.

Facial expression.

Distance from the camera.

Make-up.

Hair.

Time of day.

All can influence how a face appears.

This is why meaningful comparisons should be made using photographs taken under reasonably consistent conditions.

Immediate Isn’t Always Final

Some aesthetic treatments produce changes immediately.

Others develop gradually.

And some treatments can initially produce swelling, redness or bruising before the final result becomes apparent.

For example, dermal filler can appear different immediately after treatment compared with once swelling has settled.

Skin-quality treatments may develop progressively over time.

Before judging a result, it’s important to understand the expected treatment timeline.

More Dramatic Doesn’t Mean More Successful

A dramatic before and after can be visually impressive.

But dramatic isn’t automatically better.

For someone wanting a subtle enhancement, a successful result may be one where other people simply think:

“You look really well.”

They may not know why.

That’s often exactly the point.

At Aesthetic Boutique, our philosophy is:

Subtle changes. Beautiful results.

What Makes a Good Before & After?

When reviewing photographs, consider five things:

1. Is the treatment appropriate for the concern?

The treatment should address the underlying issue rather than simply create a visible change.

2. Does the result look balanced?

The treated area should work with the person’s overall features.

3. Does the person still look like themselves?

Natural individuality shouldn’t be lost.

4. Are the photographs comparable?

Similar lighting, angles and expressions make comparisons more meaningful.

5. Is the result realistic?

A photograph should demonstrate what is possible — not promise what everyone will achieve.

Your Result Will Be Individual

Before and after images can help you understand treatments.

But they shouldn’t become a template for your own face.

Your treatment plan should be based on your anatomy, your concerns and your goals.

That is why consultation is so important.

At Aesthetic Boutique

Oksana Vincent is an NMC Registered Aesthetic Nurse with more than 20 years of nursing experience, alongside specialist aesthetic training and multiple aesthetic certifications.

Her approach is centred around individual assessment and considered treatment.

The objective isn’t to reproduce someone else’s result.

It’s to determine what may be appropriate for you.

Thinking About Treatment?

If you’ve seen a before and after result that you like, bring it to your consultation.

It can be useful to discuss what you like about the result — whether that’s definition, hydration, softer lines or overall balance.

Oksana can then explain whether a similar type of improvement may be appropriate for you and what realistic results might look like.
